YourPets Final Judging Day

Okay, so here are some pictures of the judging as it happened and where it happened.

The top one hundred were displayed for the judges and we each scored each card idea in a gallery sort of setting. (Sort of.)

Like I say, it was fun but tricky. There were so many stellar (and hilarious) ideas and pictures and writing.

But in the end, we are quite pleased with the group of finalists. (And we think you will be, too.)

And if you, dear reader, are not one of the selected 67, remember that there will be another chance to participate in this adventure: voting your favorite finalist into the Grand Prize Winner starts on 3/3.

Oh and on that very same day, we are launching our next competition (as if you didn't already know): Your Funny*ness.

Random Aside Follow-up: Hunthausen = Dog House. Bengelsdorf = Village of the Naughty Children.

Cool pictures of the process!

So....do we get to find out who in Picture # 3 is Judgy Judgerson or KC.TBONE? :) Are the guest pet experts in there as well?

March 3rd Big Day...
67 Finalists announced and
Voting begins also particulars are released on the next contest...
Speaking of the new contest, do you realize how many d@mn funny things you can think of in a short period of time. More time for creativeness is not always a good thing...I don't know which one to choose! Okay is it March 3rd yet?
ARRRGH! :D

I wish my last name meant "Village of Naughty Children". Instead, it just means "gloves". Yep, gloves. Truly exotic.

<..> Just wondering if there were more judges than the six shown in your pix ... love what you're doing ... <..>.

<..> Since they didn't like me, I've been napping a lot; however, I'll be getting up to vote on the best one. Just seems right. With over 7,000 entries in this brilliant contest, these 67 finalists must be totally magnificent (if they didn't like me). I can hardly wait till March 3 because ... well ... that's all I think about these days. <..>

I'm awesome. said...

I think that if you all already know the finalists you should announce them because I WANT TO KNOW!!!!

<..> I'm all rested up now & feeling much better because my "mom & dad" finally admitted to me that the resolution on the camera was way too low. There'll be another time! <..>

the guy on the far left does not look as enthusiastic as the others. could it be that there were some arguments and disagreements during the process of choosing the top 67? any interesting stories you can tell now? knock down drag outs?

who had the biggest "pull"?
and will these be the same judges for the next contest?
(hmmmm, will you bring in two "funny experts"?)...

Great article on last day of judging. Is there any way we will find out the other 33 who made the top 100?????????????????????

<..> I like that idea of knowing about the others included in the top 100. So there'd be the winning 67, the alternates, and then perhaps the remaining of the 100 would be "honorable mentions," wouldn't they? <..>

"Village of the Naughty Children" sounds like a good follow-up flick to "Children of the Corn." My last name means "red mushrooms." How that became associated with my family, I'll never know.

In case you're still wondering the things you were wondering here, I finally have a moment to breathe (and respond):

"thy"... in that picture of the judges, both KC.TBONE and I are in there, as are the guest pet experts (Brian Bengelsdorf is all the way on the left and Dr. Wayne Hunthausen is in the middle of the group).

"goldeneyes"... there were about twelve judges in the first round (art directors, editorial directors and Hallmark photo experts) and then in that final round (the one pictured here), there were the two outside pet experts, one art director, one editorial director and one marketing gal. It was quite a process! (Perhaps we can simplify in the future??)

p.s. goldeneyes -- just b/c your card wasn't picked, does not mean we don't like you!! Silly.

"graphic chick" -- We all had our personal favorites from the submissions. Perhaps in the picture here, we were not all in agreement with the one under discussion. :) As far as the biggest pull and future judges, I'll save that for another post... (remind me if I forget!)

"my kids" -- Great suggestion (seeing the alternates). We'll work on it for the next go-round, but aren't able to do it this time.

Hope you're all going to enter your funny! Happy card-making.

"Judgy"

<..> Really appreciated the comments, Judgy! Thank you! The blogs by goldeneyes were made by our sphynx (whose name is not goldeneyes, btw, even tho' she has gold eyes). She has a huge vocabulary more akin to a border collie, acts like a border collie, but knows she's a sphynx and proud of it <..>. She was undeniably insulted because she didn't win so was trying to make others understand her predicament (as if she were the only one with that problem)! She may have to insert herself into the funny contest but hasn't decided what personality to use yet. <..>
