Judging = Tricky

We're getting closer to naming the finalists, but we're not there yet.
(This isn't easy, believe me.)

The next step: Two pet experts are coming in next week to join our Hallmark team in making the final finalist selections. They are all about pets. They'll be good to Squeakers and Sparky, don't worry.

Oh and since some of you are wondering which sort of pets wandered into our lives here, wanted to let you know that we've seen everything from pet pigs to your classic Chocolate Lab. (There was also a penguin. Do people really have pet penguins? I guess we'll find out if the penguin makes it to the final round.)

P.S. No bonus points for blogging, but it sure is more fun when you all join in on the convo. :)

I needed two more weeks. I did get in an entry, but my pet was just born. A couple more weeks and it would have been more cute. DANG the deadline was too short! I thought mine would kick butt. But now I have doubts. Hopefully we will have more time next time around! :)

I would really love to see all 7000! What a fun job you judges have. What kind of credentials does one need to be a pet expert or judge? I'm counting the days too

So near to the headquarters it is more than tempting to go stand outside those doors and pace! heeheehee. It would be fantastic to just watch the judging as it happens!

I know that most of you are pacing or biting your nails (or clawing the furniture or peeing in unacceptable places) as you await the finalist list. But the part that really gets me going (but always in a litter box or on my own lawn) is coming up with new card ideas. Without a new challenge soon I will either start going into withdrawl or need go into a detox program (or at worst go to the pet store and steal a new chew toy or a new supply of catnip), so I am wondering when the next contest will be announced. Anyone else out there in a similar predicament? Or are you all pacing in your dog houses or biting your claws as you await the finalist list?

can you share the process now that entries are closed?

What are judges looking for?
How are you progressively narrowing down the pool? best pics, then best verbage?

I agree with andrea. Also, how important is quality? I'm not graphic designer and don't have access to photo editting programs so is that something Hallmark would do if they liked the pic and idea? Do you do any editting if you like the basic premise of the entry?

Is Paula, Randy and Simon part of the judging crew?

I can't wait to see the finalist! - I am happy to be an alternate but would have love to be in the top 67. They must be pretty good! I can't wait!
