Some might say I'm funny, others might say I'm funny looking--either way, I'm good.
Please, pleeeaaassee, pah-leez (I'm on my knees now and given my age, that's not an easy place to get up from) vote for me! My illustrated card deserves to win because it can be used in more ways than one: you can send a chuckle to your weight loss buddies who "get" how hard it is to lose those pounds or you can send this to a friend who you haven't seen in a while. I would love your vote, so please vote for me!!

SHAAARON!!!
YOU ARE A FUNNY, TALENTED, CREATIVE, KICK-ASS ARTIST AND I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE MY WEIGHT LOSS BUDDY! (Although, I've been a bit of a slacker this 4th of July week... send me that card!)
I LOVE YOUR WIT, YOUR SARCASM AND YOUR SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION!
YOU ROCK, SISTER!
ROSIE
HEY SHARON,
AMAZING CARD. SO MANY POSSIBILITIES! MY DENTIST AND EYE DOCTOR SEND CUTE CARD REMINDERS BUT NOT MY GYM OR PERSONAL TRAINER (AS IF). I'D LIKE TO BLOW IT UP, FRAME AND HANG NEAR MY WALKER. ER, TREADMILL. CAN YOU SEE HER AS HEALTHY EXERCISE RECORD BOOK? GIVE HER DIFFERENT SLIPPERS FOR EVERYDAY OF THE WEEK. MY MARKETING (SOME MIGHT SAY MY GET-IN-YOUR-FACE-AND-TELL-IT-SISTER) GENES ARE ABLAZE. I SEE YOU AS WINNER OF THIS CONTEST. ONE CARD, ONE CHARACTER, ONE CONCEPT AND A MILLION USES! DON'T FORGET ME - OLD FRIEND! R'OI
Wow, Sharon!
Your character is hilarious -- that housedress, those slippers, that curler askew.....She's not alone in hearing Neil Diamond lyrics at those 'special' moments...You've created the new spokesperson-with-an-attitude for the Menopausal Set!
Can I work for you when you start your own design company?
You dominate!
Joyce
Your treadmill card is very true,
Most sit idle while we chew.
We stare at them and wonder when, we'll find the time to ""tread" again!
Intentions are to walk and walk,
But we'd rather sit and talk,
about the miles we "soon" will run,
When our "other" work is done!
(Yep..I had used my own as a clothes hanger, a coffee table,...etc.Then I borrowed it out and haven't seen it since!
Good luck in the contest Sharon!
Hi, Sandideer! I was so hoping you might leave a clever poem and you DID! Thanks! Now I feel like I am a part of the ever growing "blog" group. Just to let you know, my family LOVES your card. Besides mine (of course), they liked yours best! Speaking of which - I think Hallmark should hire you full time to do copy, you're rhymes are awesome!
Hello Sharon,
I thank you for your kindness,
and glad you liked the rhyme!
Now that I am back to work,
I need to organize my time!
This contest is a dream come true for us,
We've seen some very good designs!
It's a blast to write my poetry
and to think up those punch lines!
To work for Hallmark would be a dream,
(Am I really qualified?)
To get paid to write my little poems,
And for making people smile.
I better keep my day job,
to try and pay the bills piled up afar,
Am still looking for that night time job,
to put gas into my car!
Things are not getting any better with gas prices!
Hey Sharon..how do you get people to vote for your card?
My friends and some family have all told me that they just don't have time to go in every day anymore to vote. I know I am not going to win without consistant public voting.I can't even get the media to interview me..one of them said my card content was "too questionable"..( Maybe they lost their heads too..heehee)...and I can't put posters up anywhere because it isn't "non Profit"....so that part of it is over for me........( although I love the fun here on the blog and meeting all of you through my little silly poems!!)And I sincerely THANK ALL OF YOU WHO CONTINUE TO VOTE..I am still in ninth place so somebody must still be going in there!..bless your big hearts! ..I will see it through the end in September and will be there to congratulate the lucky winner! And I plan on submitting a flat design....I am no quitter!
Just the fact that all of our cards are all over the United States and Canada has been reward enough for me!
I used one of my cards to send a payment for some hay I recently bought from my neighbor up the road...won't they be surprised when they open that!
Thanks again Sharon!
Hiya, Sandideer! I left a message for you earlier this morning but so far, I don't see it posted...so I thought I'd try again.
Regarding votes - I have the same problem - voting just once seems to be all most do. I too couldn't get any newspaper, etc. interested in featuring a story - so there went those potential votes. Luckily my brother and his large extended family have been coming through like champs - as well as (of course) my mom. My last surge of votes, though, have come from posting the actual card in our office lunch room/pantry so everyone could see the final product. It looks like even with those votes coming through, though, I won't get near to winning but I am just thrilled to even be part of the whole experience! Here's wishing us both tons of luck and tons o' votes. Wouldn't it be great if we both managed to get into the top 5?! One last thing (and I may be repeating myself if my original post shows up - but it can't hurt to repeat it)- Hallmark should snatch you up before some other card company catches wind of your writing talents!
Sandideer & Sharon~ In regard to your question on how you get people to vote, Sandi, I think it really just comes down to how many people you know, and how often they work at a computer, and how committed they are to remembering to get on there and vote every day.
Media coverage doesn't necessarily help. I was interviewed on the news twice, and had a big article in our local newspaper, and I'm still in 12th place, so that didn't help me at all ~); I know of probably 3 people who remember to vote almost every day.......most people forget. But like you guys, I am mainly just excited to have a real life Hallmark card to send out... (;
I think the next contest sounds HARD! (; Good luck you two....I hope you DO make it to the top 5. (; ~Tania
Hi, Tania! So great to hear from you! Yeah, keeping those votes coming is a challenge. I'm very thankful for my mom and brother and all his kids, their spouses, etc. for being so
thoughtful/loyal/dedicated! I owe them big time.
Like I've mentioned before - being a part of this contest is amazing, especially considering the added perk of meeting/conversing with such creative people like you and Sandi! Regarding the new contest, I totally agree - it looks kinda difficult. Here's hoping one or all three of us make it into the next one! :-)
Hi Sharon, Spider and All Bloggers!,
Been very busy..everything is getting ripe at once in the garden and have to get it in the freezer! It is strawberry and pea day..and I want to spend the afternoon with my Hallmark card horse!!
It sounds like we are all on the same page with the voting. Most of my immediate family has access to a computer but the rest do not.
My significant other and I went to eat at our favorite establishment last night and I took a card there and left it at the bar.The owners said they would show it to the patrons! So another avenue for votes I guess.!
All in all this contest has been great and a very high point in my 52 years! And look at all the nice people we get to meet!
I have some ideas floating around in my head for the next contest.I had made a bunch of flat photo cards and sent them out last year at Christmas. My Mother-in-law to be still has hers on her fridge!! WOW. They hang around way past Christmas!Have a great weekend everyone!
HAAA-HEEEE! WAAAA HOOOO! That is the funniest card and the cutest illustration. That lady in her robe and slippers just standing there looking at her treadmill.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I love it! And using the song "Hello..." It's genius I say. If you don't win that contest, then America is on too many meds. Vote America, it's an election year... You can practice here, dimple those chads and vote for Sharon's design.
I need a piece of cheesecake!
WOW, Anonymous! THANKS!! You are my new BEST FRIEND! Looking for a publicist's job? I'd hire you in a second! Your blog comment was so wonderful to read. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Chances are I'll be lucky to make it into the top five (know a couple thousand people you could get to vote for my card?) but reading your comments made me feel like the biggest winner of all. THANKS SO MUCH!
